Education Minister Jason Clare says the election will be tight but remained confident federal Labor would form majority government.

Clare is the spokesperson for the party throughout the federal election and told Sky News that the choice for Australians is clear, as he said taxes would be lower under Labor and higher under the Coalition.

“It’ll be a tight election, and there’s a lot at stake, as there is in every election,” he said.

Asked if federal Labor would form deals with the Greens or independents in the event of minority government, Clare said they would not be in that situation.

“We won’t be doing any deals with the Greens,” Clare said.

Asked what the party would do if they don’t win majority, Clare said: “we’re not even contemplating that mate, you know we are seeking the support of the Australian people for a majority Labor government”.
