Hollywood stars are anxiously awaiting news of their homes, taking to social media to seek information and sharing news of the destruction of their properties.

Journalist and author Maria Shriver shared a video of destroyed LA streets from CBS journalist Jonathan Vigliotti, showing the smoking ruins of once-magnificent mansions. Filmed from the window of a car, it shows what remains of the glamorous neighbourhood: some charred building archways and columns, toppled power poles, and still-smouldering pockets of fire.

“Heartbreaking, devastating, beyond belief. Everything is gone. Our neighbourhood, our restaurants. All our friends have lost everything. We have evacuated, but are safe. But people have lost everything,” The Sunday Paper writer said in the post.

Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis took to Instagram unsure of whether her home still stood and urged people to post online responsibly.

“My community and possibly my home is on fire. My family is safe … There are so many conflicting reports. With all the technology there seems to be very little information. PLEASE POST FACTS! IT WILL HELP THOSE WONDERING!”

This morning (Australian time), Curtis shared that her home was safe but much of her neighbourhood had been destroyed.

Actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s $6.5 million property also burnt down, Variety reported, just days after the couple celebrated the Nobody Wants This star’s Golden Globe nomination in Beverly Hills.

Songwriter Diane Warren shared on Instagram that the beach house she had owned for 30 years was also gone.
