A woman from County Tyrone, who shares videos on social media about her journey with alopecia, said she wanted to create a “safe space” for others with the condition.

Olivia McVeigh has almost half a million followers across her online platforms, where she shows people how to wear and style wigs.

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease, where the body’s immune system attacks the follicles of the hair, causing it to fall out.

McVeigh began noticing symptoms of her condition when she was a teenager, and began wearing wigs in her early 20s.
