Two teenagers and a 25-year-old Perth man have been charged after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase through the city’s southern suburbs in a stolen car on Monday.

The Nissan X-Trail was allegedly spotted driving with fake registration plates on Leach Highway in Palmyra about 8am, and the driver allegedly sped off when police tried to pull the car over.

The police air wing helicopter was called in and tracked the car as it allegedly sped through Cockburn, Bibra Lake, Murdoch and South Lake.

Footage from the police helicopter shows the car mounting footpaths, crossing onto the wrong side of the road while hurtling down narrow suburban streets, and narrowly missing oncoming traffic on major roads as the driver allegedly races away from pursuing officers.

But the chase comes to an end at a cul-de-sac on Gilbertson road in Kardinya, where the driver and passengers are arrested.

Police allege the car was stolen from a home in Coolbellup between Friday and Saturday nights.

A 17-year-old boy from Brookton faced Perth Children’s Court on Tuesday charged with several offences including reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, and no authority to drive.

A 16-year-old girl from Waikiki also faced Perth Children’s Court, charged with stealing a motor vehicle.

The 25-year-old man will face Fremantle Magistrates Court on April 15 charged with obstructing public officers, stealing a motor vehicle, and having a passenger aged 16 years or older failing to wear a seatbelt.
